NATIONAL WESTERN CENTER
CAMPUS PLACEMAKING STUDY

The National Western Center (NWC) Campus Placemaking Study provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stitch together various institutions and destinations into a locally and globally recognized campus. MIG is leading a multidisciplinary team and providing a refined design concept for all development on the west portion of the campus with emphasis on the public streets to complement and support the three major visionary pillars of entertainment, experiential learning and research, and agri-business.

Economic success and unprecedented growth in Denver is occurring at a time when the traditional agrarian way of life is beginning to disappear. The influx of population and the strength of an increasingly tech-oriented economy are beginning to dilute our ties to the very identity that is at the heart of Denver and Colorado. This problem is not unique to Denver/Colorado – it is a global concern that demands a new way of thinking.

The MIG Team is providing innovation, creativity and leadership in program refinement, cultural assessment, education and interpretation, public realm study and design, design standards and guidelines, civil engineering and community engagement. The many facets of placemaking are allowing MIG to retell a compelling story and translate that story into a multitude of physical moves that will create the foundation to support strong demand in the market, innovation in thinking and long-term value creation.*
